Abdomen, Face Liposuction - Los Angeles, Beverly Hills

Strict dieting and exercise may help you drop pounds, but losing weight in certain parts of the body can prove extremely difficult.  Stubborn areas such as the hips and thighs in women and the abdomen and flanks (love handles) in men accumulate fat according to genetic predisposition. These areas resist traditional weight-control measures such as diet and exercise. It is these anatomic regions that respond best to liposuction or liposculpture.  There are many choices available when it comes to liposuction or liposculpture; the differences between them are important to understand.

Dr. Stoker would be happy to meet with you to discuss your liposuction options. Simply request a consultation online or call us at (310) 300-1779.

Liposuction can help reduce unwanted fat deposits in areas including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Abdomen and Flanks
  • Face and Neck
  • Chin
  • Arms
  • Thighs and Hips
  • Buttocks
  • Breasts
  • Male breasts (Gynecomastia)

Types of Liposuction
There are many different types of liposuction available today, but the core concept of liposuction remains the same: removal of unwanted fat through a small tube. What distinguishes the different types of liposuction involves factors such as:

  • Type of anesthesia used (local anesthesia liposuction vs. general anesthesia),
  • Fluid injected into the fat (tumescent liposuction vs. non-tumescent technique)
  • Assisting the surgeon in manipulating the cannula (power-assisted liposuction, laser-assisted liposuction, etc.).

Further modifications of the procedure have led to liposculpture techniques that use laser energy (SmartLipo) or cooling (Cool Sculpting) to destroy fat cells.

Large Volume Liposuction may be used to suction large volumes of unwanted fat, particularly from the abdomen and flank regions. A number of published studies suggest that large volume liposuction may provide significant, long-lasting health benefits to patients undergoing the procedure. However, this type of surgery is not a panacea for those affected by obesity; it should only be performed by an expert liposuction surgeon such as Dr. Stoker, who has considerable experience in performing such specialized liposuction procedures.

Dr. Stoker will help you decide which type of liposuction is most appropriate in your particular case.

What to Expect from Liposuction:
If you choose Dr. Stoker to perform your liposuction, you can look forward to permanent reshaping of body contours that are affected by disproportionate fat deposits. This can often make for a dramatic change in your figure or physique. Please bear in mind that liposuction is not an ideal treatment for obesity, nor is it a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise.

Liposuction or Liposculpture: What's the Difference?
“Liposculpture” refers to the removal of fat through more delicate and precise techniques than typical liposuction. It is most useful in refining small areas in patients who are relatively close to their ideal weight.
